Prof. dr. Dragan Djukanović Serbia
Dragan Đukanović is a full professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade. His academic career spans many years of teaching and research in the fields of international relations and European studies. Before becoming a full professor, he served as an associate professor at the same faculty, and prior to that, he worked as a researcher and scientific associate at the Institute of International Politics and Economics in Belgrade.
In addition to his academic career, Dragan Đukanović has been involved in various research projects and programs. He is currently the lead researcher on the project “National Interests of the Republic of Serbia: From Contestation to Legitimation” (NATIONAL(S)), funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. He also leads the master’s program module “Contemporary Balkan Studies” and coordinates the Faculty of Political Sciences’ team within international research initiatives.
As an expert in international relations, Dragan Đukanović is the author of several notable monographs, including The Balkans at the Post-Cold War Crossroads, Serbia’s Foreign Policy Identities, and Institutional Models and Democratization of Post-Yugoslav States. His research focuses on European integration, Serbia’s foreign policy, and geopolitical processes in the Western Balkans.
Beyond his academic and research work, he is active in professional organizations and expert councils. He is currently the president of the Pan-European Union of Serbia and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Legal and Political Education in North Macedonia. He previously served as president of the Center for Foreign Policy and vice president of the Forum for International Relations of the European Movement in Serbia. He has also been a long-time member of the editorial boards of prominent academic journals, including International Politics and International Problems.
As a guest lecturer, he has delivered lectures at universities and academic institutions across the region and beyond, including the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo, the European Academy in Berlin, the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, the University of Skopje, and the University of Podgorica. His international academic experience includes a specialization at the Aleksanteri Institute of the University of Helsinki, where he conducted research on models of intergovernmental cooperation in the Nordic region.
