Dr. Milivoj Beslin Serbia
Dr. Milivoj Bešlin is a historian and senior research fellow at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade. He taught at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Montenegro during the 2017–2018 academic year. He is the author of the two-volume monograph The Idea of Modern Serbia in Socialist Yugoslavia, as well as dozens of scholarly studies, articles, essays, and reviews published in domestic and international academic journals and edited volumes. He has also edited and compiled seven collections of academic papers.
Dr. Bešlin has participated in numerous regional and international scholarly conferences and has been involved in the implementation of fourteen research projects. He is the founder and coordinator of the Laboratory for the Study of Socialism and (Post-)Yugoslav Studies (YugoLab) at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory.
His research interests include: the political and social history of socialist Yugoslavia; nationalism studies; modernization theory; reform attempts within socialist Yugoslavia; key elements of Yugoslav federalism; Serbian-Croatian relations in the 20th century; the issues of antifascism and historical revisionism; as well as questions of intellectual engagement and nationalism.
