Call for Applications: Third Module of the “Youth Media Sprint” Training – Trust, Ethics, and Solution-Based Journalism
Following our highly successful previous trainings, we are opening applications for the third training module within the “Youth Media Sprint: Novi Sad Newsroom Lab” project. This module will take place on October 17, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Zenit Books in Novi Sad (Njegoševa 24).
We have prepared two exceptional sessions with top experts:
Educational Session: Trust, Ethics, and Credibility in Journalism
Lecturer: Ivan Ivanović, journalist, television author, host, and producer.
The focus of this session is on journalistic ethics, conflicts of interest, and building long-term trust with citizens. We will discuss how to maintain professional distance in a local environment, recognize conflicts of interest, and resist political and commercial pressures. We will also address where the line between journalism and PR lies, and how transparency, fact-checking, and correcting mistakes contribute to media credibility and community relations.
Specialized Training: Solution-Based Journalism
Lecturer: Suzana Trninić, journalist and editor.
The focus of this practical training is on how to investigate responses to social problems and constructively shape a story. You will learn what distinguishes solution-based journalism from “good news” and PR, as well as how to investigate ways others have responded to similar problems. We will cover the four pillars of a story: the response to the problem, evidence of results, limitations of the solution, and insights that others can apply. Through practical work, participants will analyze their planned topics across these four pillars to create the basic structure of a solution-based story, learning how to maintain a critical approach and avoid unfounded optimism.
Who can apply? The training is intended for students, young journalists, and members of youth newsrooms from Novi Sad (aged 18 to 35) who want to improve their professional skills, understand ethical standards, and learn how to constructively report on problems in their community.
