Aleksandra Jerkov: NDNV Will Not Be Silenced

The last nights break-in at the premises of the Independent Society of Journalists of Vojvodina in Novi Sad occurred after a months-long campaign of hatred and targeting of this organization by the highest officials in Serbia, headed by President Aleksandar Vučić.

We demand that the police and all relevant authorities urgently take action and, without delay, determine whether there is any suspicion that this break-in at the premises of the Independent Society of Journalists of Vojvodina is connected with the hatred that the regime generates toward this organization and its leaders—calling them, almost on a daily basis, traitors and Ustaše—and failing to respond to the constant death threats they receive.

It is clear that free speech and independent journalism cannot be silenced by force, pressure, or threats, and that the journalists belonging to the Independent Society of Journalists of Vojvodina will continue to report objectively, inform the public, and will not be intimidated or silenced by any miserable attempts or campaigns of hatred.
